Beginning in November, all 5th grade students in Grand Rapids Public Schools will be reading this book and blogging about their reading experience. There will be questions posed to the students, posts written and shared from different classrooms and four "Great Days of Blogging". The final celebration will be held with a visit from the author in March 2016.

What does Esperanza mean when she says to Miguel that there is a "deep river" that runs between us?
When Esperanza says to Miguel that there is a long deep river between us i think she means that you are the housekeepers son and i am the ranch owners daughter an that the river must never be crossed
What esperanza means that there is a deep river between then like when she was rich and they could not live in the house because miguel and his family where poor so esperanza and miguel can not date because miguel was the housekeeper son and esperanza was the ranch owner's daughter.
When Esperanza said that it was a deep river that ran between them I think she meant that because Miguel was the house keeper's son and she was the ranch owners daughter they stood on different sides of the river and it couldn't be crossed because they're so far apart.

The two pieces of advice that Abuelita gave Esperanza was to finish the blanket and, she said to Esperanza '' You are at the bottom of the valley but soon you will be at the top of the valley". The next piece of advice she gave Esperanza was ''do not be afraid to start over''.

i think she means that they grew up in different families she grew up in a rich family and Miguel grew up in a poor one.i feel lie they have different personalities based on where they grew up and how they were raised.for example Esperanza was rich with maids an big house and he was raised without them and i think that's what she means.
The sacrifices in the book is the papa that is the sacrifices in the book. But when I was scared it was creepy when my mom left and I was at my house alone, but it was daytime and I was playing the game.
