Beginning in November, all 5th grade students in Grand Rapids Public Schools will be reading this book and blogging about their reading experience. There will be questions posed to the students, posts written and shared from different classrooms and four "Great Days of Blogging". The final celebration will be held with a visit from the author in March 2016.

Groceries
Why does Miguel shop for groceries at a store that is far away from the camp?
Miguel had went to a far store because he new that the other stores will treat him with different color.And also he went to a far one because the Mexicans were a race as every body else.
I think Miguel went to the store that was far away because Mr.Yakota treats Mexicans good and they got fair prices.Other stores did not treat people nicely and Mr.Yakota does.
Miguel goes to a far store because the owner Mr. Yakota treats Mexicans friendly and he treats everyone fairly. The other stores are or do treat Mexicans bad. Also because he has Mexican food and everything they need. That's why Miguel goes to a store that is far.
Miguel had went to a far store because they treat them better in a store he knows.Also because in other stores that were close they did not like people because of there skin color.So that is why they would go to the far stores.So now Esperanza knows why they go to a far store.
the whites dont like the Mexicans or blacks coming to their store to. get stuff out of their they are the poor in their store for some reason people. in other countries dont have the freedom that we have in grand rapids some people Will get sent back where they came from so some people will get sent back.

Miguel went to the store far away from the camp because Mr.Yakota treats many people that are colored nice and the other people from other stores don't treat Mexicans nice and also Mr.Yakota has good and fair prices at his store.Also Mr.Yakota doesn't care if they are rich or poor or how they dress.

Miguel went far away because the other stores were a rip off because they were treating Mexicans bad and also Mr. Yakota was a good sealer and makes the prices are lower.
I think it was because Mr.Yakota (owner of the store) was nice to Mexicans. No other market was like it the called them uneducated,dirty,poor,and unskilled and all looked alike.So that why Esperanza and Mingel went to Mr.Yakota's store.
Because Miguel said,''Mr. Yokota stocks many of the thing we need and he treats us like people and everyone thinks they are alike and also calls them dirty greasers,but he doesn't call them that at all and that's why Miguel choose that store.

I think it's because it is the cheapest shop and the owner is nice.
