Beginning in November, all 5th grade students in Grand Rapids Public Schools will be reading this book and blogging about their reading experience. There will be questions posed to the students, posts written and shared from different classrooms and four "Great Days of Blogging". The final celebration will be held with a visit from the author in March 2016.

Crocheted Blanket

Why does Esperanza continue working on the crocheted blanket Abuelita had begun?
I think that Esperanza thinks she's going to loose Mama if she doesn't get Abuelita to come to the hospital. And Mama will get back her good memories of back then then Mama will feel happy. And won't even remember that she is sick.It tells me on page 165 . Frida Sherwood Park Global Studies Academy Mrs. Thyer.
Esperanza continued to work on the blanket because Mama needed Abuelita but she didn't come with them so she made the blanket because it's Abuelita's and it would remind her "she loved you."
She probably finished the blanket because it reminded her of Abuelita. Abuelita wasn't able to come with them, so she might have finished it to not feel lonely. Also, Abuelita told Esperanza to finish the blanket for her.

Esperanza continues working on it because she knows Mama needs Abuelita's love and companionship because Mama is sick and depressed! Mama got sick by the dust storm. And Abuelita told her to finish the blanket for her too!

When Esperanza was little her dad died. When i was my grandpa died its too bad he doesn't get to se me getting older
