Beginning in November, all 5th grade students in Grand Rapids Public Schools will be reading this book and blogging about their reading experience. There will be questions posed to the students, posts written and shared from different classrooms and four "Great Days of Blogging". The final celebration will be held with a visit from the author in March 2016.

Sacrificing for Others
Good Morning! In the book, Esperanza Rising, people are making a lot of sacrifices. Why do you think people make sacrifices for others?
I think people are making sacrifices for other's because, they want there love one's to live so they can have a future like when Esperanza try's to rise above all that's happening like when her mother being sick an she doesn't want her mother to die because, then all she will have is Hortensia, Alfonso, and Miguel left.
Why do people make sacrifices? People make sacrifices so they seem nice or caring. Or they do it to help others. Mama sacrifices her house for her family's safety.
Here are a million thing that describe Esperanza character first,Esperanza life is frustrating because her dad died and who is gonna pay the bills.Also she is very rich until her dad died.Espranza is very brave because her dad died I would kill my self if my dad died but Espranza didn't. Here are a lot of reasons that describes Espranza character

people make sacrifices because sometimes others life can depend on you and because its always better when you help someone else when there i need and its always good to risk something important or your life to help another
People make sacrifices for others because they care. An example of this is how Esperanza is now sacrificing her childhood to make sure her sick mother is taken care of.
