GREAT DAY OF BLOGGING!!!
Welcome to the GREAT DAY OF BLOGGING!! Why do you think the author uses the names of fruits and vegetables as the titles of the book's chapters?
The author use grapes, papayas, figs, guavas, cantaloupes, almonds, plums, potatoes, avocados, asparagus, peaches and grapes.Thats all of the chapters thats fruits of vegetables.
The author uses the names of fruits and vegetables as the titles of the books chapters. The author did this because the fruits and vegetables bring back memories she had with her father. For example in chapter 2 Las Uvas (grapes),Esperanza spends time with her dad at the vineyard. She also spent time with Marisol in the vineyard talking about birthdays and her quinceaneras. In chapter 3 on page 24, Marisol's father gave Esperanza the box of papayas that her papa ordered for the fiesta, before he died. In chapter 4-Los Higos (Figs) page 57. As mama and Esperanza secretly left in a wagon, Esperanza smashed figs beneath her feet. She hated leaving her father behind.
I agree with you, Miguel! I see the correlation between the titles of fruits and vegetables with memories of her father. I can't wait to read more about her journey to the United States. I wonder what other fruits and vegetables in the U.S will remind her of her father.
The author uses the names of fruits and vegetables as the titles of the books chapters because it brings back memories of her father. For example, in chapter 2- (Grapes), she is in the vineyard spending time with her father. Another example, in chapter 3-(papayas), her father orders papayas for Esperanza on her birthday. My last example, in chapter 4-(figs), when she is leaving her home she feels like she is leaving her father.
The author uses the names of fruits and vegetables as the titles of the book chapters . The author does this because the fruits and vegetables bring back memories she had with her father . For example, in chapter 2- Las Uvas (Grapes) , Esperanza spends time with her dad in the vineyard . Another example for chapter 3- Las Papayas, At the end the papayas remind Esperanza of her papas sweet intentions .My last example in chapter 4- Los Higos (Figs) ,Esperanza hated leaving because she felt she was leaving her father .
Why did author use names of fruits and vegetables as titles of the book`s chapters? The author did this because they brought back memories of her father. For example, in chapter 2 called (GRAPES), she said it reminds her of spending time with her dad in the vineyard. In chapter 3, named Papayas, the papas reminded her of her dad because the papayas her party before her dad died.
The author uses the names of fruit and vegetable as the titles of the books chapters.Because the chapters names remember the memories Esperanza had with her dad. For example,in Chapter 2-Las Uvas (Grapes) Esperanza spend time with her dad in the vineyard.Another example for Chapter 3 -Las papayas (papayas) the papayas reminds Esperanza of her papas sweet intentions.
The author uses the names of fruits and vegetable as the title of the books chapters. The author did this because Esperanza spent time with her father. For example in chapter 2 Las Uvas (Grapes), she spent time with her dad in the vineyard. The second example in chapter 3- Las Papayas (papayas), Esperanza heard papa and the others singing. The Papayas remind her about her dad when he died.
The author use the names of fruits and vegetables as the titles of the books chapters. One example is in chapters 2 Las Uvas Esperansa spends time with her dad at the vineyard she also spend time with Marisol in the vineyard talking about b-days and her Quinceaneras.
The author uses the name of fruits and vegetables as the titles of the books chapters because they remind of her father. The author did this because the fruits and vegetables for example,in chapter 2- Las Uvas (Grapes), The papayas remind her about her dad.
The author uses the names of fruits and vegetable as the titles of the books chapters. The author did this because the fruits and vegetable bring back memory of her dad with her like chapter two Las Uvas (Grapes) it says "In the vineyard Esperanza spends time with her dad. In chapter three its called Las Papayas the papayas reminded Esperanza of her papas sweet intention. In chapter four is called Los Higos (Figs) remind Esperanza of her dads territory when he was alive.
The author uses the name of fruits and vegetable as the titles of the book's chapters. The author did this because the fruits and vegetables bring back memories she had with her father. For example, in Chapter 2-Las Uvas (Grapes), one example is Esperanza spends time with her dad in the vineyard. She also spends time with Marisol in the vineyard talking about her quinceaneras. Also, in chapter 3-Las Papayas (papayas)on page 24, Marisols father gave Esperanza the box of papayas her papa ordered before he died for the fiesta At the end the papayas chapter it reminded Esperanza of her papa's sweet intention.
Why would the author use fruit and vegetables for the chapters titles.First in chapter two, Las Uvas (grapes) the text says "Esperanza spends time with her dad in the vineyard"and she also spends time with Marisol talking about her fifteenth birthday. Second in chapter 3 Las Papayas Marisol's dad gave Esperanza a box of papayas her father ordered when he was still alive for her fifteenth birthday. Last, in Chapter 3 page 38, Tio Luis wanted to marry Esperanza's mom and the papayas reminded her about her dad.
The author uses the names of fruits and vegetables as the titles of the book's chapters. The author does this because it reminds Esperanza of her dad.For example in chapter 2- Las Uvas (Grapes),Esperanza spends time with her dad in the vine yard.
The reason why the author gives the chapters fruit, and vegetable names is because... it seems like every chapter tells about that certain vegetable or fruit. Also because the certain fruit or vegetable probably has something to do with the chapter. On page 4 the chapter title is "Grapes",and in the chapter it talks about grapes. Also because the Mexicans are the ones who harvest and plant the fruits and vegetables.
I think the author decided to put the fruits and vegetables is because it reminds Esperanza of when her and her dad were back at the ranch growing crops it reminds her of that. Also in every chapter it says something about Esperanzas father and when they were at the vine yard.
The author uses names of vegetables and fruits for the names of the chapters. I think she used names of fruits and vegetables because in every chapter there is always something about the fruit or vegetables in it like on page 180 chapter avocados it said, "Are you sure this will work?" asked Esperanza, as she watched Hortensia cut a ripe avocado in half. As you can see in this sentence it talked about Hortensia cutting an avocado in half and the name of the chapter is "Avocados!" Also in chapter plums on page 140 it says lulu and pepe both loved there bowls of smashed plums reaching for more after each spoonful.Esperanza mashed another three plums and they gobbled every bite. In this chapter called plums it was about how the babies Lulu and Pepe liked the plums Esperanza gave them. All these fruits and vegetables were planted and harvested by the Mexican migrant workers
I think the author put fruits and vegetables as the titles because the book was about the Mexican culture and the Mexicans were the migrant workers and the ones who were planting and harvesting the crops.Another reason is because in every chapter it had something to do with a fruit or vegetables.I am a student from Mrs.Gillespie Metcalf class
The author uses the names of fruits and vegetables as the titles of every chapter because it brings some memories back to Esperanza. Like on chapter 1 Esperanza spends time with her dad in the vine yard listening to the heart beat of land. The fruits and vegetables were grown on that land as well.Mrs. Gillespie-Metcalf's Class
The author uses fruits/vegetables as the titles for the chapters because somewhere in that chapter they mention that fruit/vegetable. Also in some chapters it brings back memories. In Las Almendras (Almonds)Josefina wants some almonds shelled. In Los Higos (Figs) she squashed the figs because she was sad that she was leaving her home where she has been at all her life with her Papa. Also her heritage may have something to do with the chapter titles because Mexican migrant workers harvest and plant these fruits/vegetables.
The author uses the names of fruits and vegetables because in the chapter called "Grapes" Esperanza, her servants, her mama, and her papa went out on the ranch and they had cut the vines with the grapes on them.At the cabin the Mexicans planted and harvested the plants. The author also put fruit and vegetables as the name of the chapter because the fruits and vegetables remind Esperanza of the old days of living on the ranch with her dad.
The author uses the names of fruits and vegetables as the titles of the books chapters because it reminds her of her dad the way he loved the world and fruits and vegetables. One example is in chapter 2 pages 5-6 Las Uvas (Grapes) is for when she was in the vine yard with papa and how the Mexican have things to do with fruits and vegetables and the migrant workers grow all the plants. That's why I think the author uses fruits and vegetables for the chapters.
I think the author uses the name of fruits/vegetables as the chapter titles because the chapters always has something to do with a fruit. For example the chapter plums Esperanza fed the babies plums and the babies were using the bathroom a lot. Also what ever the name of the chapter the Mexican migrant workers had to deal with on the ranch. For example in the chapter peaches the workers had to deal with peaches.
I think the reason the author chose fruits and vegetable because in every chapter the characters are doing something with food.Next in the chapter potatoes while mama was in the hospital Esperanza almost never left her side. After that I think it is because they be harvesting different fruits and vegetables.
I think the author uses fruits/vegetables as the book's chapter titles because it has something to do with the chapter. In the chapter it says something about the fruits/vegetables. In the chapter Las Ciruelas/Plums Esperanza fed the babies plums, and the chapter Avocados Hortensea was cutting avocados in half. And plus the farm that they live on the migrant workers planted and harvested the fruits/vegetable from the chapter. Mrs. Gillespie at Mulick
I think the reason the author chose fruits and vegetable because in every chapter the characters are doing something with food.Next in the chapter potatoes while mama was in the hospital Esperanza almost never left her side. After that I think it is because they be harvesting different fruits and vegetables.

I think the author used fruits and vegetables as titles of chapters because the book talks about the Mexican culture and Mexican migrant workers and how they work with crops. Also in the chapters they talk about the fruit or vegetable the chapter is named after.
I think the reason why the author used fruits and vegetables because the they are what the migrant workers are growing in the fields.for example some fruits and vegetables they grow are guavas, grapes, papayas and figs.I found the names of fruits and vegetables on pages 39,23,4 and 58.
The reason the author chose fruits and vegetables for chapter titles is because every time Esperanza says that harvest time is coming and the seasons change and it is time to start harvesting different things.
I think the reason the author put fruits and vegetables for each chapter is because in each chapter is it talks about for example plums and almonds onions, guavas, avocados, figs, papayas, grapes, cantaloupes, asparagus and last but least potatoes
In my opinion, I think the author Pam Munoz Ryan used fruits/veggies as the title because it talks about Mexican culture and Migrant workers and how they work with crops. Also, like on page 140 it says, " Pepe and Lulu like the plums that Esperanza had made for them. Esperanza made 3 more bowls since they liked it so much." @mulickpark
I think the author uses fruits/vegetables as the titles for the chapters because somewhere in the chapter they talk about fruits and vegetables.Another reason why I think the author use fruits and vegetables is because I think it helps Esperanza remember the memories with papa.
The reason why the the author uses fruits and vegetables as the title because the story is like Mexican culture. The migrants are the people that plant and harvest the crops, and because when you read the next chapter it has something to do with fruits and vegetables.I am in Mrs.Metcalf's class
I think the author used fruits and vegetables, like for example the chapter grapes.Esperanza and her papa were in the grape fields in El Ranch De Las Rosas. They where cutting the grapes vines.they where using the grapes for Esperanza's birthday. I'm in Mrs. Metcalf class at Mulick Park.
I think they use fruits and vegetables as the title for the chapters because the story connects with Mexico and its culture. Also because the fruit has to do with remembering her dad. The fruit represents her life.
The reason why I think that in every chapter they use vegetables and fruits is because the next chapter they end up talking about the fruit or vegetables. And maybe because that’s there favorite fruit and vegetable.Or they probably they just want to talk about that theme.
I think the author uses names of fruits and vegetables as the titles because maybe that fruit or vegetable help someone from the story Esperanza Rising. Another thinking is maybe the charters do something with the vegetable or fruit. Stocking Elementary
I think the author uses fruits and vegetables as esperanza Rising chapters so we can know what vegetables and fruits are in the chapters. and that we can know their healthy or the author just wants us to know he likes fruits and vegetables. Or that that’s a part of who they are or who he are and that people can get the main idea of this story because this story could really happen and things like that and this Is why I think he puts fruits and vegetables In his chapters.
That maybe the name of the chapter is problem what the chapter is going to be about and what kind of fruit and vegetables the chapter is going to be about.
I think the author uses names of fruits and vegetables as titles because during the story it includes the vegetables or fruit. For example :Las Uvas or the grapes that's when Esperanza,Mama, and Hortensia were in the wagon with the grapes. So I think the author includes it so we know what’s going to be included in it.
I think the author uses fruits and vegetables because sometimes they eat it. Like when Pepe Lupe were eating plums in the last chapter because Esperanza did not know what to feed them. I think the author also uses Fruit and vegetables to know what food is in the chapter.
I think the author named the chapters after fruit because there is always something to do with that certain fruit or vegetable. My class just read LAS CIRUELAS which is the plums. The plums are what the babies ate that Esperanza gave them and upset their stomach. Now my class is on LAS PAPAS, so I think this chapter is going to be about something with potatoes. Stocking Elementary
I think the author uses the names of authors because in each chapter it talks about that vegetable such as in Las Almendras which means the Almonds and in that chapter it talked about Almonds. Stocking Elementary
Each title for the chapters on Esperanza Rising has the name of fruits and vegetables because in each chapter, someone eats that food or does something else. In the chapter PLUMS, Esperanza gave Lupe and Pepe mashed plums. Each chapter has something to do with the name of the food for that chapter.
I think that the author used fruits and vegetables as the titles of the book’s chapters because in every chapter that is what the every character in the story is eating. In the chapter Las Ciruelas or plums the two babies Lupe and Pepe are eating plums because Esperanza feeds it to them for lunch. And that is why I think the author puts fruits and vegetables as the chapters names. Stocking Elementary
The reason the author uses fruits of the name of the chapter because somehow in every chapter the fruit that is used to help someone like he plums chapter when Esperanza mushes up the plums for the babies. That is my point like somehow they have a fruit they either mention or they use it to help someone out. Take this chapter for example. The Almonds when Esperanza dumps the almonds out of the bowl and picks one almond up from the table on the flattened pod
they put chapter with fruits because in the story they eat lots of food. maybe author likes fruits and vegetables so she could put it in the story stocking elementary
I think the author made the title of all the chapters after fruits and vegetable two reasons one is he was hungry two is he thought that was good titles for them and he want you to eat your fruits and vegetables every day. another reason is because in every chapter there's of fruit like chapter Guavas when they ridden in the buggy and she said she can smell the good Guavas I want some right now
I think the author uses fruits and vegetables as the titles because the chapter it will have a part where they mention the fruits or vegetables like when Esperanza feed the plums to the babies, the title was plums.
The Author uses vegetables for titles because to give us hints about what they are going to talk about in chapter.Another thing I guess that they will say the topic to.
the title always fruits and veggies because someone or something always eats it.Like plums pepe and lupe aet plums or like onions they smell onions .thats why there frurts and veggies.
I think when the author puts fruits and vegetables for the book in each chapter is because when papa and Esperanza lived in Mexico they use to plant grapes and vegetables in the field and so every time in each chapter they plant fruits and veggies. Stocking Elementary
I think it does that because it in the chapter like the plumes esperanza gave the babies plums. In almonds they were opening almonds.I also think that the author likes all those fruits and vegetables. That's what i think.
I think the author uses fruits and vegetables in title because people can know what maybe they're going to talk about in the chapter or maybe they might like that fruit or vegetable.Or probably they uses the fruit or vegetable is because like from the Las Uvas or the grapes Esperanza,Mama and Hortensia were in the wagon with the grapes so I think that's why he uses fruits or vegetable. Stocking Elementary
The reason they have like potatoes for they tite because you never know what they will be talking about it might be selmer and every time we get done in all ways talking about a vegetables and that might be good. I think it will be good because they might like vegetables a lot and they Esperanza might think she use to love them so much when she was little and papa might gave to her in every food.
I think the author names every chapter after a vegetable or fruit because that food will be important somehow in the book or chapter. That food will be used for something and in all the chapters Esperanza has something to do with that vegetable or fruit in some way. Stocking Elementary
The reason why I think that in every chapter they use vegetables and fruits is because the next chapter they end up talking about the fruit or vegetables. And maybe because that’s there favorite fruit and vegetable.Or they probably they just want to talk about that theme.
why did the author include fruits and vegetables it the title, from the way my class read it, it seems to me that it includes every fruit or vegetable that is in the title in the story. It also seems that every time i read the book, the Spanish word is also included, pay attention to it next time you read the book.
The reason why I think the author uses fruit and vegetables for the titles of the book's chapters is because they uses the fruits and vegetables that the eat or use. Also they use them in there to tell you they are using the words in the book.
Author uses the name of fruit and vegetable as the titles of the book because it gives what this we are going to read in chapter. other ways author uses the name fruit and vegetable is that author is trying to tell use what the chapter is going to be about. Stocking Elementary
The author names the chapters after fruits because maybe she wants it to mean that all of the chapters are different and unique just like a bunch of different fruits.
I think they named the fruits and vegetables for chapters is because Esperanza and her family have lived on farms twice and have fruits and veggies on the farms.
they base the chapters on the fact. When it talks about any type of food in the story there is always background or at least a few chapters explaining it, and talking about Esperanza is very important to the story so it would only make sense to put it in the story
I think the author used fruits & veggies because she wants to use them to help the reader understand that when esperanza was at the camp in the field picking fruits & veggies the author would use the fruits 7 veggies for the chapters.
I think the author used fruits and veggies because that chapter my be Esperanza's next job. Also that might also mean the type of season.I also think the author did that because that what it is going to be about.
I think the author used fruits and veggies because that chapter my be Esperanza's next job. Also that might also mean the type of season.I also think the author did that because that what it is going to be about.
The author uses the fruits as the title as the fruits because it is probably a flash back that she had was about her papa when he died. She might not have gotten to tell him her favorite fruit that she liked.
The author use grapes, papayas, figs, guavas, cantaloupes, almonds, plums, potatoes, avocados, asparagus, peaches and grapes.Thats all of the chapters thats fruits of vegetables.
ReplyDeleteThe author uses the names of fruits and vegetables as the titles of the books chapters. The author did this because the fruits and vegetables bring back memories she had with her father.

ReplyDeleteThe reason why the the author uses fruits and vegetables as the title because the story is like Mexican culture. The migrants are the people that plant and harvest the crops, and because when you read the next chapter it has something to do with fruits and vegetables.I am in Mrs.Metcalf's class
ReplyDeleteI think the author used fruits and vegetables, like for example the chapter grapes.Esperanza and her papa were in the grape fields in El Ranch De Las Rosas. They where cutting the grapes vines.they where using the grapes for Esperanza's birthday. I'm in Mrs. Metcalf class at Mulick Park.
ReplyDeleteI think they use fruits and vegetables as the title for the chapters because the story connects with Mexico and its culture. Also because the fruit has to do with remembering her dad. The fruit represents her life.

ReplyDeleteThe reason why I think that in every chapter they use vegetables and fruits is because the next chapter they end up talking about the fruit or vegetables.

ReplyDeleteStocking Elementary
Like the plums Esperanza gave plums to the baby.
DeleteThe reason why the author gives the chapters fruit, and vegetable names is because... it seems like every chapter tells about that certain vegetable or fruit. Also because the certain fruit or vegetable probably has something to do with the chapter. On page 4 the chapter title is "Grapes",and in the chapter it talks about grapes. Also because the Mexicans are the ones who harvest and plant the fruits and vegetables.

DeleteI think the author uses fruits and vegetables as esperanza Rising chapters so we can know what vegetables and fruits are in the chapters. and that we can know their healthy or the author just wants us to know he likes fruits and vegetables. Or that that’s a part of who they are or who he are and that people can get the main idea of this story because this story could really happen and things like that and this Is why I think he puts fruits and vegetables In his chapters.
ReplyDeleteStocking Elementary
That maybe the name of the chapter is problem what the chapter is going to be about and what kind of fruit and vegetables the chapter is going to be about.
ReplyDeleteI think the author uses names of fruits and vegetables as titles because during the story it includes the vegetables or fruit.

ReplyDeleteStocking Elementary
I think the author named the chapters after fruit because there is always something to do with that certain fruit or vegetable. My class just read LAS CIRUELAS which is the plums. The plums are what the babies ate that Esperanza gave them and upset their stomach. Now my class is on LAS PAPAS, so I think this chapter is going to be about something with potatoes.

c
I think the author uses the names of authors because in each chapter it talks about that vegetable such as in Las Almendras which means the Almonds and in that chapter it talked about Almonds.
ReplyDeleteStocking Elementary
Each title for the chapters on Esperanza Rising has the name of fruits and vegetables because in each chapter, someone eats that food or does something else. In the chapter PLUMS, Esperanza gave Lupe and Pepe mashed plums. Each chapter has something to do with the name of the food for that chapter.

ReplyDeleteI think that the author used fruits and vegetables as the titles of the book’s chapters because in every chapter that is what the every character in the story is eating. In the chapter Las Ciruelas or plums the two babies Lupe and Pepe are eating plums because Esperanza feeds it to them for lunch. And that is why I think the author puts fruits and vegetables as the chapters names.
ReplyDeleteStocking Elementary
The reason the author uses fruits of the name of the chapter because somehow in every chapter the fruit that is used to help someone like he plums chapter when Esperanza mushes up the plums for the babies. That is my point like somehow they have a fruit they either mention or they use it to help someone out. Take this chapter for example. The Almonds when Esperanza dumps the almonds out of the bowl and picks one almond up from the table on the flattened pod

Deletethey put chapter with fruits because in the story they eat lots of food. maybe author likes fruits and vegetables so she could put it in the story
ReplyDeletestocking elementary
I think the author made the title of all the chapters after fruits and vegetable two reasons one is he was hungry two is he thought that was good titles for them and he want you to eat your fruits and vegetables every day. another reason is because in every chapter there's of fruit like chapter Guavas when they ridden in the buggy and she said she can smell the good Guavas I want some right now
ReplyDeleteSTOCKING ELEMENTARY
I think the author uses fruits and vegetables as the titles because the chapter it will have a part where they mention the fruits or vegetables like when Esperanza feed the plums to the babies, the title was plums.

The Author uses vegetables for titles because to give us hints about what they are going to talk about in chapter.Another thing I guess that they will say the topic to.
ReplyDeleteStocking Elementary
the title always fruits and veggies because someone or something always eats it.Like plums pepe and lupe aet plums or like onions they smell onions .thats why there frurts and veggies.
ReplyDeleteStocking Elementary
I think when the author puts fruits and vegetables for the book in each chapter is because when papa and Esperanza lived in Mexico they use to plant grapes and vegetables in the field and so every time in each chapter they plant fruits and veggies.
ReplyDeleteStocking Elementary
I think it does that because it in the chapter like the plumes esperanza gave the babies plums.
ReplyDeleteIn almonds they were opening almonds.I also think that the author likes all those fruits and vegetables.

ReplyDeleteThe reason they have like potatoes for they tite because you never know what they will be talking about it might be selmer and every time we get done in all ways talking about a vegetables and that might be good. I think it will be good because they might like vegetables a lot and they Esperanza might think she use to love them so much when she was little and papa might gave to her in every food.
ReplyDeleteStocking Elementary
I think the author names every chapter after a vegetable or fruit because that food will be important somehow in the book or chapter. That food will be used for something and in all the chapters Esperanza has something to do with that vegetable or fruit in some way.

why did the author include fruits and vegetables it the title, from the way my class read it, it seems to me that it includes every fruit or vegetable that is in the title in the story.

ReplyDeleteStocking Elementary
Author uses the name of fruit and vegetable as the titles of the book because it gives what this we are going to read in chapter. other ways author uses the name fruit and vegetable is that author is trying to tell use what the chapter is going to be about.

I agree with you Judith because the story actually tells us what the chapters tell us what the story is going to be about.

the author named the chapter is fruits and vegetables is because the chapter las ciruelas is plums will talk about plums
ReplyDeleteI think the author uses fruits to represent Mexico. I also think Esperanza uses fruits as a way to remember her father.

The author names the chapters after fruits because maybe she wants it to mean that all of the chapters are different and unique just like a bunch of different fruits.

I think they named the fruits and vegetables for chapters is because Esperanza and her family have lived on farms twice and have fruits and veggies on the farms.

Good thinking
ReplyDeletethey base the chapters on the fact. When it talks about any type of food in the story there is always background or at least a few chapters explaining it, and talking about Esperanza is very important to the story so it would only make sense to put it in the story
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking that you should add Esperanza is important to the book so it would of make sense to make those chapters in the book Faye from campus
ReplyDeleteI think the author uses fruits and veggies because

I think the author used fruits & veggies because she wants to use them to help the reader understand that when esperanza was at the camp in the field picking fruits & veggies the author would use the fruits 7 veggies for the chapters.
ReplyDeleteI think the author used fruits and veggies because that chapter my be Esperanza's next job. Also that might also mean the type of season.I also think the author did that because that what it is going to be about.

ReplyDeleteThe author uses the fruits as the title as the fruits because
ReplyDeleteit is probably a flash back that she had was about her papa when he died. She might not have gotten to tell him her favorite fruit that she liked.
